Most conventional OBD II adapters using standard CAN over Bluetooth hit a hard limit: even decent units only manage around 20–30 Hz total, shared across all channels. For example, if you log above 10 channels with a 30Hz high-end OBD II adapter on the market, each channel you chose can drop to under 3 Hz — far too slow for Dragy users who need true high-refresh performance. Dragy’s OBD II adapter fixes this with proprietary tech, a high-performance processor, and advanced CAN hardware, massively increasing communication speed through the standard OBD protocol so that on many vehicles you can run up to 10 channels at around 10 Hz per channel, with peak refresh rates up to 400 Hz. It’s not a small upgrade — it’s a step-change in speed and reliability.
*The exact refresh rate may vary by vehicle model.

Dragy OBD II adapter is optimized for CAN-protocol vehicles and is highly recommended for cars that use the CAN protocol. Non-CAN vehicles are still supported with standard speed depending on the protocol.
Quick compatibility note: In the U.S. market, OBD-II itself has been mandatory on all light-duty vehicles since the 1996 model year, and the ISO 15765-4 CAN protocol became the required OBD-II protocol for all new vehicles starting with the 2008 model year, though many cars from around 2005–2007 already adopted CAN depending on make and model.
In Europe, the EOBD version of OBD-II has been required since the early 2000s—approximately from the 2001 model year for gasoline vehicles and the 2004 model year for diesel vehicles—with CAN widely used but not mandated by every regulation.
In other regions such as Japan, China, Australia, Brazil, and India, OBD-II or equivalent standards were phased in at different times (e.g., Japan’s JOBD around 2002, China from 2008, Australia from 2006, Brazil from 2007, and India from 2017), so protocol support can vary by market and model.
